What is ear wax removal?

It’s important to start by saying that having some wax in the ear is good. Often a common misconception with ear wax or the more technical term ‘cerumen’, is that it means your ears are dirty, but this is not the case.

The wax in fact plays an important role in maintaining good health in your ears, and protects and prevents things such as dust, dirt, and infections from getting into the ear.

Got an ear full? Despite its benefits, a build-up of ear wax can be both painful and irritating, and if left untreated, it can cause discomfort.

That’s where Clear Ears comes in! The removal of wax from the ear is a simple process that is achieved by one of three methods.

1. Micro-suction – The gold standard and more comfortable method of ear wax removal where wax is removed by suction under a microscope. Can be used regardless of whether oil has been applied to the ear in the days leading up to your appointment.

2. Water irrigation – Involves a controlled mechanical flow of water which is pumped into the ear using a specialised machine with a variable pressure control, simply washing out the built-up wax, or using specialised tools to remove the wax

3. Manual removal – wax is removed using a small, curved tool called a curet

Ear wax removal is only required if the wax is causing you pain, or if your hearing has been affected as a direct result of compacted wax.

The process takes no longer than 30 minutes and is both safe, effective, and affordable! What’s better, Clear Ears comes directly to your door, ensuring the treatment is done in the comfort of your own home.
